When it’s your turn to be the reader

Before you begin this exercise, make sure you are sitting comfortably with your deck of Tarot or Oracle cards in front of you. Have a notebook and pen nearby.

Step 1: Relax

When you are relaxed and your mind is quiet, the soft voice of your intuition can be heard. Make yourself comfortable and begin by taking slow, deep breaths in through the nose and out through the nose or mouth. Visualize exhaling everything that’s on your mind – you can come back to your worries later – but for now, let your mind become clear and empty.

Relax your body by breathing into any areas of tension or discomfort and exhaling the tension until your body feels warm and calm.

Step 2: Clear your Tarot Deck

Since your deck will have absorbed the energies of your last reading or of the last person who touched it, it is important to clear your deck of any residual energies. The best way to do this, is by shuffling.

After you shuffle your deck a few times, hold it in your hands and give it a “light bath” – visualize breathing in a beautiful white light and sending that light down your arms and into your tarot deck so that it is bathed in white light. This not only clears your deck, but it helps you connect more strongly to your Tarot cards.

Step 3: Ask the Question!

As you hold your deck, ask your question or ask your participant to ask one silently in the mind. If there is not a specific question, you may simply ask your Tarot cards “What do we need to know right now?” or “What messages do you have for us today?”

Let your question settle into the deck. Imagine that the question is traveling from your mind, down your arms and into your Tarot cards.

Step 4: Cut the Deck

Place your Tarot deck on the table in front of you and using your left hand, cut the deck in half and place the top half on the left. You can also ask your participant to cut them. There should be two piles of cards now. Choose the card that is on the top of the right pile and turn it over.

Steps 5-10: The Reading

For this part, you may want to get out your pen and paper…

First Impression – Notice what your first thought, feeling or reaction was when you turned the card over. Often, our first impression is loaded with intuitive insight because our egos/minds haven’t had a chance to jump in yet.

Body Messages – Your intuition will often communicate with you through physical feelings, like a tight stomach or tingly feeling in your hands. Notice if you get any physical sensations as you look at your Tarot card.

Say the card’s name out loud – doing this can sometimes open pathways in the mind, giving you access to new insights and information. Notice how you feel when you speak the cards name out loud.

Color – Notice the colors in your Tarot card. Is there a mix of color, absence of color or mostly one color? If one color is more dominant than the others, what does that color mean to you?

Action! – What is going on in this Tarot card? Are people communicating or struggling? Is there a lot of movement or stillness? This one factor can often indicate the issue you are dealing with and its solutions.

Characters – Notice which figures, whether human or animal, are present in your Tarot card. What message does this character(s) bring to you? Imagine yourself stepping into the Tarot card and having a conversation with this character. What would they say?

Symbols – What symbols stand out to you? What do those symbols mean to you? Tarot cards communicate to us through symbols and many “hidden meanings” can be discovered when we take the time to meditate on the symbols.

Step 11: Closing the Tarot Reading

When you feel it is time to end the Tarot reading, hold your deck in your hands and silently thank it for all the insights and guidance it has brought to you today. You may want to enjoy a brief moment of silence just to let the reading settle in.

Reshuffle your Tarot deck and return it to its resting place.

Party Hosting Tips

Hosting a psychic party is a great way to bring friends together! It is a great way to get your friends and family together for yummy food, drinks, and a glimpse into your future! What more can you ask for in a night out?

A psychic party is great for:

  • Bachelorette parties
  • Wedding or baby showers
  • Birthday parties
  • Retirement parties
  • Girls night out

Here are some tips on hosting a tarot party or psychic party:

  1. Invite as many friends as you can, not everyone will be able to make it. But also keep in mind of timing and whether or not you will need to choose more than one person to be a reader. If you don’t have the space to have two readers you may want to limit your list and maybe have two parties a month or so apart.
  2. Find out ahead of time how the person who will be doing the tarot card readings at your party will perform the readings. You should switch people who are hosts and also the ones who will be the readers.
  3. Choose a table for the readings. Make sure it’s big enough to lay out the tarot card spread and what ever else is desired when doing the readings.
  4. It is also very helpful to not have the tarot card readings done where they can be heard by the other guests. Sometimes the person’s Spirit Guides or passed loved one may need to get a very important message out and it may be something that the recipient does not want others to know.
  5. Call your guests who have confirmed they are coming about 24-48 hours in advance. This way they will not forget to show up.
  6. Try  your best to have your guests hold off on their alcoholic drinks till after their reading.
  7. Most importantly – have fun and keep an open mind!

How to host a Tarot Themed Bachelorette Party

A fun idea for a bachelorette party is to have a Tarot theme for your get together.  Not only is this a G rated activity, but it can be a blast for your guests.  It can provide entertainment and enlightenment – plus it is often an affordable solution for your party needs.

Here are a few tips to make sure your fete is a success:

  1. Make sure your guests are going to be comfortable with the Tarot theme.  Some people, for religious reasons, may not jive with any type of psychic stuff.  If you sense that tarot cards will make your guests squeamish, you may want to skip this idea altogether.  You may also decide to go ahead with the Tarot theme but you can let those guests know that they are not expected to participate.
  2. Decorate to match the theme. You may want a crystal ball or scarves hanging over the lamps. Christmas lights make a fun addition as well.
  3. Consider whether your guests may want privacy for readings.  You may need to set aside another room just for the readings.  A great tip: make the room look like a traditional fortune teller’s tent:  a table with colorful scarves, candles, a crystal ball, lots of flowers – get creative here to set the right mood!
  4. Video the readings.  You can then share the videos with your guests as a party favor.
  5. You may also want to create a fun “swag bag” with lottery tickets, good luck charms, a tarot card (make sure the card is a positive one), a crystal and a candle.  This will make your party truly memorable.
  6. If you decide that you want to have a male stripper and tarot readings, have them at separate times to keep the evening going strong – or put them in different rooms. Another option: do the readings at your location and then take your crew to the local strip club instead.  The more prudish guests may appreciate that – plus you can get crazy without wrecking your house!

Always remember that your bridal shower is about the bride.  Whether you decide to include tarot readings or a male stripper (or any other sort of entertainment), make sure that this is something that delights her and makes her day as fun and unforgettable as possible.
